  • WILL MY LATEX BE INSURED WHEN BEING POSTED?
Latex is expensive and a considered purchase for many people, so its important to protect your garment when posting. It is VERY important that you send your garments to me including insurance and tracking, to make sure that if your latex is lost or damaged in the postal service, you are fully compensated for the retail price. That is why I always recommend customers sending their latex via Royal Mail Special Delivery at £8.50 for up to 1KG parcels which offers £750 insurance (with additional insurance available up to £1000 for extra cost) which includes tracking, signature upon receipt and next day delivery. For parcels over 2 kg it is £11.50. I always return latex using Royal Mail Special Delivery for peace of mind. NB: Recently, a customer sent their latex catsuit without tracking or insurance and their latex is now forever lost in the postal system without a way to return their garment or find compensation.
  • WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS IF MY LATEX GARMENT IS TOO SMALL/BIG?
Sometimes, we buy latex off the peg from latex manufacturers. Sometimes, we think that the latex is made to measure, but with latex brands outside of the UK, often you send your measurements and the seller matches to the closest standard off the peg garment. This can mean latex is too big or too small for your body. Options: 1) Too small: If your latex catsuit legs or arms are too small, I can remove the existing areas and using your measurements, cut new latex to the pattern and attach to your suit. This can also be done on a full garment, where a panel in a dress can be replaced with a larger size. 2) Too Big: If your garment is too big in specific areas, the seam can be released and cut the panel down to your measurements. This will make your outfit made to measure.
  • WHAT IF MY GARMENT HAS LATEX ROT?
Latex rot can occur approximately after 2-5 years. This can be due to latex not being used often, exposure to extremely high or low temperatures, or prolonged exposure to UV sunlight, perspiration, Skin oils, which can all cause rubber's molecular chains to break down over time Rubber is one polymer that just doesn't last forever and will begin to decay from the moment it's manufactured. You can tell when latex is about to "Turn" when it becomes like chewing gum and far more flexible/ stretchy that normal. You will notice a very strong smell coming from the latex that is cloying to the nose. You know you have latex rot, when some areas become like patches of tar. It is thick, sticky areas that are wet to the touch. You can try to save your latex but replacing a panel in a suit with new latex, though the integrity will be effected. When Latex rot begins, your garment is more prone to ripping or tearing suddenly. Replacing a panel may be a false economy. If you love your garment, such as a favourite catsuit, you can have it cloned in new latex. You can even customise the suit to add new features. Your suit that had latex rot can be taken apart and a new pattern taken from it. This is then your pattern to use again. New latex will be cut from this pattern and any alterations to fit your measurements. This is the best way to keep your most loved latex garments when latex rot sets in. Contact for a quote.
  • WHAT ARE LATEX APPLIQUÉS USED FOR?
Latex appliqués are designs, words, symbols, pictures hand cut or cut out by laser and applied to a latex garment. These can be used to add a logo to a design or more commonly, used to add detail and unique style to a latex piece. If your latex garment has a large tear or rip, you can opt for a latex appliqué which will cover the damage, reinforce and add detail to your garment! Here is a Pinterest board latex appliqués of examples to give you inspiration. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/debaucheedesign/latex-applique/ The singer, Katy Perry, is known for wearing latex garments and many have latex appliqués applied to make her garments unique to her.
  • DO YOU CHLORINATE LATEX GARMENTS?
Currently I do not offer chlorinated latex. I can purchase chlorinated latex from Candy Coated Latex to make a garment if you wish. There are home Chlorination kits you can purchase from the USA by Candy Coated latex, available on Etsy. You can learn how to chlorinate your own latex using ziplock bags and chemicals here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fdj4KHT8e-c
  • CAN YOU REPLACE THE ZIP THAT HAS COME AWAY FROM MY LATEX ?
Latex zips take a lot of strain and pull, especially on form fitting latex catsuits. It is a common problem that the zip had pulled away from the latex or the zip pull had become stuck/ come off the zip tape track when being tugged on. You can have your zip pull re-tracked on the zip tape most of the time. This means ungluing the latex sheet sealing the zip to the catsuit, and releasing the zip tape in order to slide the zip back on top the track. Then a metal zip stop is added or it is sewn closed with liquid latex to prevent rot when wet. Some latex garments need to have a zip fully replaced if the suit is older and the glue cannot be released. This is because the glue will have fully bonded to the suit, meaning it cannot be unglued with chemicals at all. The zip will need to be cut free from the garment and a new zip installed with reinforcement and skin guard added.

  • HOW LONG WILL MY LATEX REPAIR/ ALTERATION TAKE TO BE COMPLETED?
Generally, an order or repair/alteration takes between 4-6 weeks as standard. On busier periods, this is extended to 6-8 weeks which is comparable to other latex businesses in the UK. I can work to a due date, however I add an up charge for this at £20 per hour additionally.
  • MY LATEX IS CHLORINATED CAN YOU DO A REPAIR OR ALTERATION ON CHLORINATED LATEX?
I have many years of experience of working with chlorinated latex, from the many repairs and alterations I have completed. There are chemicals and tools, techniques required to make chlorinated latex suitable to be glued. By chlorinating latex, the surface is chemically etched and permanently changed. If you look at latex under a microscope, it is like mesh layered and layered over each other. Chlorination smooths this mesh layering. As a result, the material appears rather satin/matt to silky shiny and is somewhat less elastic. The surface does not stick together, but rather glides like nylon. This means I need to sand the surface of the latex in order for it to bond with the glue. I use a combination of a Dremel tool and sanding paper in various course textures to score the latex in different directions. It takes time to prep chlorinated latex for a good bond, which is why I charge extra to work on chlorinated garments. I can add patches, appliqué and replace panels, zips on chlorinated latex. It just takes extra steps and time to complete. I can also buy sheets of chlorinated latex direct from Candy Coated Latex in the USA in order to make new garments or replace panels.
  • WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR A TEAR / RIP IN MY LATEX?
First, I request to see some pictures of your latex garment to see the area which has been damaged and location of seams. I ask for a size reference in the pictures, such as a tape measure or pound coin, so I can see how big the tear or rip is. Options 1) Replace the full panel with new latex in the same thickness as the garment. I remove the current panel section, cut new latex and glue in to the garment, so it is as good as new! 2) Patch on the inside of the garment is an option, however, you can still see a faint line or hole at the front. 3) Applique, over the tear or rip to cover and reinforce the area. An Appliqué can add interest and unique look to your latex with writing, image, symbol. Ideas can be found here on Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/debaucheedesign/latex-applique/
